                   AN ORDINANCE CLOSING AND ABANDONING A PORTION
                   OF BARKSDALE AVENUE LOCATED SOUTHEAST FROM EAST
                   36TH STREET, BETWEEN JEROME AVENUE AND DIVINE
                   AVENUE MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED HEREIN.

              	   SECTION 1.  BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
         CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That there be and is hereby 
closed
         and abandoned a portion of Barksdale Avenue located southeast 
from
         East 36th Street, between Jerome Avenue and Divine Avenue, more 

         particularly described herein, and as shown on plat attached
         hereto and made a part hereof by reference:
                Part of Barksdale Avenue, a 66 foot wide unopened
                right-of-way beginning on the southeast line of
                East 36th Street 60 feet northeast of the
                intersection of the southeast line of East 36th
                Street with the southeast line of Jerome Avenue,
                fronting 66 feet on East 36th Street, and extending
                southeast 140 feet between parallel lines to the
                northwest line of a 10 foot alleyway.  Said part of
                street separates lot 1, block 111, from lot 3,
                block 112, East End Land Company's Addition No. 1,
                as shown by plat of record in plat book 2, page 22,
                R.O.H.C.  Tax Map No. 168A-N-18 and 19.
               
              	   SECTION 2.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this 
Ordinance
         shall take effect two weeks from and after its passage as 
provided
         by law.
